What makes our wildlife unique?

Ambergris Caye provides a diverse ecosystem for local wildlife to thrive in. Our area has dense jungles, sandy beaches, and warm turquoise waters! Each of these areas has unique animals that live there. Visitors will often see these animals up close, so be sure to be on the lookout! Overall, the high number of native species makes our wildlife so unique. 

What Wildlife Will I See? 

Ambergris Caye is home to hundreds of different species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and more! Some animals you’ll see include American Crocodile, Black Spinytail Iguana, Green Iguana, Racoon, Northern Anteater, and Greater Grison. These animals make their home on the thousands of acres of jungle on the north side of Ambergris Caye. You may see them as you’re exploring! The most important thing to remember when contacting wildlife is to keep your distance! We have to be responsible stewards of nature and admire them from afar!

Their dedicated team of professionals works hard to rehabilitate animals, resolve human-animal conflict, and conserve their natural habitats. Great question! Helping protect Belize’s Wildlife is easy. Some of the best ways to do your part is simply being responsible. Don’t feed wild animals, clean up after yourself, and report any animal you see in distress.
